Why Core Comes First

The technician-certification regulation requires each certification test to include questions from a Core group as well as the relevant technical group. Core is where the exam establishes the shared language behind Section 608: what counts as recovery, why venting is restricted, how refrigerant families affect the environment, and what safe handling looks like.

A strong Core base makes the Type sections easier because you can separate a general rule from an equipment-specific procedure. If a question is really testing cylinder safety, for example, switching from a small appliance to a high-pressure system does not make overfilling a recovery cylinder acceptable.

Recover, Recycle, or Reclaim?

These are three different actions. A question often becomes easy once you identify whether it asks about removal, field cleaning for reuse by the same owner, or processing to a verified purity standard.
